Cross Country welcomes every ability level from kindergarten through eighth grade. There are no tryouts, and meets are structured so athletes of all ages get to race.

Eligibility

Boys & Girls, Grades K–8. Your student must be enrolled in one of the following:

  • St. Matthew School
  • St. Matthew PSR classes
  • Church of the Resurrection PSR classes
  • Other Columbus Diocese programs are eligible under certain circumstances

How Teams Are Formed

The Mustang Cross Country team competes at meets around Central Ohio that allow athletes of all ages to run. Meets are generally divided into grade-school and middle-school heats. The CCL championship has four races: 5th grade and under (girls and boys) and grades 6–8 (girls and boys).

Practices

Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays when there is no meet. Weekdays 6:00–7:15 PM; Saturdays 10:00–10:45 AM.

Where: Hannah Park, the St. Matthew athletic fields, and other locations around Gahanna

Uniforms & Equipment

Uniform singlets and shorts are provided by St. Matthew.

Your athlete brings: Running shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.

Games & Locations

Meets are held both during the week and on weekends.

Where: Locations vary from meet to meet.
